Authentic hadith

Sadaqah Jariyah refers to any form of charity whose benefit continues indefinitely, such as building a mosque, digging a well, or supporting another lasting act of good.
It is like a flowing river that never stops: its reward continues during the donor’s lifetime and after their death. This is why Muslims give Sadaqah Jariyah for themselves, their parents and those who have passed away.
Waqf is one form of charity in Islam considered to be Sadaqah Jariyah. It involves dedicating funds or assets, such as land, for the benefit of people without reclaiming them.
Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, gave land in Khaybar as charity after the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, advised him to preserve the asset and give its fruits in charity. The land could not be sold, inherited or given as a gift; its benefit served the poor, relatives, travellers and guests.
